Postman Dale delivers the goods
02 July 2009
GOLFERS in Chigwell clubbed together for charity - by wearing pants over their trousers!
The TopGolf driving range at Abridge Road hosted a Golf Grand Slam and raised over £800 for male cancer charity Everyman.
TopGolf donated £10 for every player who took part with their pants or boxers over their trousers.
Postman Stephen Dale was crowned Grand Slam winner with an incredible 159 points.
Chigwell's Rory Henell came in third place with 115 points.
Dale won a Mercedes-Benz driving experience at legendary race track Brooklands, followed by a top meal and overnight stay in a luxury hotel for his efforts.
He said: "I go to TopGolf five times a week so was delighted to find out I had won. I'm looking forward to getting in that car!"
TopGolf Chigwell general manager James Jenkins said: "It was fantastic to see so many golf fans turn out for such a worthy cause.
"There were some interesting pants on show, too. Some looked a bit older than others!"
The Grand Slam was the final event of the TopGolf/Everyman June partnership, which was established in support of the Everyman Male Cancer Awareness Month.
"The partnership with TopGolf has been an amazing way for us to raise awareness of and raise vital funds for research into male cancer," said Everyman spokesperson Alison Morgan.
"It's been a really successful month and we want to thank TopGolf and all the players who participated throughout June for their time and support."
Throughout the month, TopGolf has donated 5p to the charity from every game played at the range.
