Wanstead Players present The Ghost Train

WANSTEAD Players have chosen a ghost story for their new production.

They will be performing The Ghost Train, which was written by Arnold Ridley - best known as Private Godfrey in TV comedy series Dad's Army.

The play is being directed by steam engine fanatic Peter Wilson, who joined the Wanstead Players 20 years ago.

He said: "It's about a group of people stranded at a railway station in Cornwall in 1925.

"The station master tells them that the station is haunted and, without giving too much away, it's about what happens when they stay overnight in the station waiting room."

Peter, who is a qualified steam engine driver, has starred in the play twice, but this is his first time as director. "It's a comedy drama and is quite a fun play," he added.

The Ghost Train will be performed at the Kenneth More Theatre, Oakfield Road, Ilford, on February 4, 5 and 6 at 7.30pm. There will also be a matinee performance at 3pm on February 6.
