Rock Choir launches new session in Woodford

08 January 2010
MOST of us enjoy singing along to rock and pop songs even though we don't consider ourselves good singers and would never have nerve to front our own band.

Rock Choir gives people the chance to perform pop, gospel and Motown songs in fun weekly sessions.

Woodford Rock Choir already offers an adult rehearsal on a Monday evening at Holy Trinity Church, Hermon Hill, South Woodford, and is now launching another for new adult members, starting on Monday at the same venue.

There are also similar choirs throughout south east England.

The innovative style and the feel-good approach of the Rock Choir team caught the eye of the BBC as hundreds of members from across London and the south appeared on a short film on BBC Breakfast and later the Paul O'Grady Show.

Rock Choir director and founder, Caroline Redman Lusher said: "Most individuals who join Rock Choir are less than confident in their voices and in themselves.

"It's our job to care for them in whichever way they need and build their confidence so they can sing their hearts out each week, leading to the events we arrange for them. The weekly sessions are exciting and good fun.

"Singing, laughter and time out from the everyday routine are the three main building blocks, but members gain a huge amount more on a personal level - we know that from their regular feedback.

"Rock Choir could be described as a club or activity - but it's more than that to us and our members. I run Rock Choir with my family, with feel good music and exciting experiences as the backbone of the choir. We have been amazed and thrilled at the response from the public - especially from women.

"Rock Choir seems to attract lovely and fantastic people from all walks of life - it's a weekly meeting of minds, power and music! Amazing!"

Anyone interested in joining can book into a free taster session. A 10-week term costs £90.
