A BASEBALL cap wearing thug who assaulted staff in a Barking supermarket and made racist comments is being hunted by police.

The man, pictured, became aggressive and racially abusive after security staff detained a young woman nearby for shoplifting at Tesco in Highbridge Road, Barking.

A police spokesman said he threatened staff and assaulted one employee by punching him in the head.

He then told a female member of staff he would come back and shoot her.

The man was wearing faded blue jeans, a white T shirt with the word Ecko written across it in black and a black baseball cap. He also had a blue top draped across his shoulders.

Anyone with any information should contact Det Con Chambers at the Priority Crime Unit on 020 8217 5571.
